Have you ever seen the game “Axis and Allies?” The original game is based on Word War II.
Following the Trump / Vance victory, along with many Republican victories, I have seen this:
How come we do not see this sort of “sticker” as another way to divide the nation? Doesn’t this sort of “sticker” infer that there is an “axis” in our nation? And therefore, to be an American we have to think / agree one way and if we don’t, we are not “allies?” Or as this “sticker” says, you are an “unsafe” person? When a list is made of “specifics,” that list does lead to “marginalizing” people. Sure. It’s ‘cute’ to have the word “anything.” Yet, there is definitely and underlining message with this “sticker.”
I see disagreement and being able to still work with one another as the ultimate example of the “American Spirit.”
What are you really saying?
When you post such a sticker that gives a definition of “ally” / “safe person,” I guess you are openly supporting all groups / ideas. Why do you need to do this? By your actions, people don’t know you are a “safe person?” When I have seen this “sticker,” I have asked the question and still wait for answers.
Let’s Make Truly Unifying Statements
What is a definition of “American?” Well, when reading this brief article, please read it through this “lens” of “what is an American?” An American is one who believes and follows the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. That’s it. It is that simple. If we really taught our youth what the Declaration of Independence and Constitution are that would possibly stop 85% of the garbage that divides us. We would NOT be thinking in the sense of “Axis and Allies.” Therefore, YES, I believe such statements as the “sticker” above does continue to fuel the division in our nation.
What brings people together on a Sunday for a Christian church service / mass? They all believe in JESUS CHRIST. What brings people together in our nation? They all believe in and follow the Declaration of Independence and Constitution.
Time for America to Truly Wake Up
Whether or not you voted for Trump/Vance or the many non-Democrats who won, we saw a statement made by tens-of-millions. One statement is – WE NEED TO WAKE UP AND RETURN TO BEING AMERICANS. We need to be Americans who happen to practice a certain faith or are a certain race, ethnicity, gender. We are truly stronger when we are together – under the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. Diversity doesn’t not unite and is not our “greatest strength.” There is a reason why “diversity” has the same root as “divide.”
Yes. For me? Jesus Christ is who I am ultimately under. And…parts of the New Testament (centered on Jesus’ teachings) teach us there is a role that government plays in our lives. For example, we need to have laws and justice and therefore, there is no “defunding” the police. Humans need law and order.
Please consider to post “stickers” that would promote being an American. Promote the beauty what our country does have when we come together under those two important documents. Why does that “sticker” about not have an American flag? It does have a rainbow.
I hope we will wake up and say, “I love you just the way you are. I love you even more when you are better today than you were yesterday and are happier for being better.”
America will be better today than yesterday. You know. Be unburden by what has been. (wink)
