Our culture has accepted two huge lies.

Our culture has accepted two huge lies.  The first is that if you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear or hate them.  The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do.  Both are nonsense.  You don’t have to compromise convictions to be compassionate.  –  Rick Warren

How did we, the GREATEST NATION IN THE WORLD, arrive to a point where this quote from a Pastor, Rick Warren, is so true?

It saddens me.

The most recent example of compromising conviction to be compassionate is CHICK-FIL-A.  Chick-Fil-A “prided” (irony of choice of that word) itself of being a Christian-Centered business.  And in doing so, the LGBTQ community found Chick-Fil-A to be harmful.  Created a “fear” of Chick-Fil-A or even hate Chick-Fil-A … referring to the Pastor Warren quote.

Yet, Chick-Fil-A was there to support THE PULSE nightclub.

Why do you shop at a business / eat at a restaurant based on their politics?  Leave me a comment… I don’t understand.

I go to Starbucks because Diana likes Starbucks.

I use YOUTUBE because it is a great source of videos.

I use Amazon because it works.

I will go to Disneyland because it’s frickin’ fun!

All of those companies above are labeled as supporters of liberal causes … From a site that says, “The definitive list of liberal, progressive and  / or anti-Trump companies that you should boycott.”

Conservatives boycott businesses, as well.  So, please, teach me what I am missing.

All those people working there, work there to earn money to survive / live in our nation.  I would be shocked if 20% of all employees choose to work at a business because of its political beliefs.

The problem with this way of thinking – boycott business based on politics or even religious beliefs – is it is totalitarianism.  “You” must think like me.  “You” must shop like me. “You” must eat like me.  If “you” do business with these people, “you” are bad.  The businesses are bad.  The left seems to be more totalitarian than the conservatives.  I have had more liberals / leftists turn me “off” than my conservative friends.  I have conservative friends frustrated with me, but they don’t defriend me or block me on FACEBOOK.

Chick-Fil-A why the change?  Why succumb to the bullying?  LGBTQ – why the bullying?  Where is the GOLDEN RULE?

Honestly, Chick-Fil-A not supporting the Salvation Army, which will feed MILLIONS OF PEOPLE DURING THIS UPCOMING THANKSGIVING, because Chick-Fil-A wants LGBTQ folks to like Chick-Fil-A is a lack of character.   It is…

Chick-Fil-A – you supported the Salvation Army because it serves all people.  There isn’t a sign in front of the Salvation Army building saying, “NO LGBTQ”.  There isn’t.  Show me where the Salvation Army refused to help any member of the LGBTQ community… and if it did… that “chapter” would not be representing the teachings of Christ.

Same with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  Please show me where their doctrine says, “no member of the LGBTQ community may be a part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.”  Now, if it does, I would be extremely disappointed.

We all need to take a breath and understand people make choices.  As a Christian, I choose to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.  That was my choice.  As far as the choices of others, THAT IS BETWEEN THEM AND GOD.  Also, I understand that being Gay is NOT a choice.  I get it.  And please know, that is very different thinking than many in the Conservative community.   I have friends who are gay.  I have no problem with them being gay. ZERO!  Why?  Because, it is none of my business.  I am the Christian who believes in not casting judgement.

Now, I do have problems with LGBTQ folks who condemn Christians.  Those folks better change their thinking.  There are far more Christians who share my understanding of Christ.  We are to love thy neighbor.  Take care of our neighbor.  Gay or Straight.  White or Black.  WE ARE GOD’S CHILDREN.

Even though I am disappointed in Chick-Fil-A’s decision to stop supporting the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, I am still going to buy their sandwiches.  And let me tell ya something… there is not going to be an increase of the LGBTQ community going to Chick-Fil-A… nor is there going to be an equitable number of Christians running away from Chick-Fil-A.

You disagree with LGBTQ community will not be running to the nearest Chick-Fil-A?  Read what GLAAD says about this decision.

I do hope we will grow from this “tribal” thinking.  I hope we will return to being Americans.  Accept people who they are / what they believe.  If not, we will make life MORE difficult for ourselves and others and what a shame that is: MAKING LIFE MORE DIFFICULT.
