I know. This is not a typical Christmas Message. If you want it to be a typical Christmas Message – GO FOR IT! By the way, I plan to leave this message up until January 6th. Yes. THAT January 6th – my birthday (smile). Notice how that day now has a different meaning? Hmmm. Why Do We Celebrate January 6th?
The other day I was enjoying a great conversation with a mentor and he was passionate about a topic. He then said, “Well, I am preaching to the choir.”
We hear that all the time.
Thanks to God, I had a tremendous response to my mentor when he apologized using, “I am preaching to the choir.”
“No you aren’t! You are giving me inertia to continue on the path I am walking!!” (I have now learned “inertia” is the wrong word!)
We both thought – WOAH! WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? Answer: GOD.
I looked up the origin of “preaching to the choir.” Sure makes sense to me.
Yet, couldn’t that ‘preaching to the choir’ be some form of “societal-kinetic-energy?” Definition of Kinetic Energy
Part of the definition of Kinetic Energy: If we want to accelerate an object, then we must apply a force. Applying a force requires us to do work. After work has been done, energy has been transferred to the object, and the object will be moving with a new constant speed.
When someone “preaches to the choir” couldn’t it be the force needed to keep the work moving? I do. Could we be the object? Seriously!
We need people to remind us (preach to the choir) what our (my case – Christian male) mission is!
So, the next time you hear someone “preaching to the choir,” please consider it to be a form of “spiritual-kinetic-energy.” The message is meant to keep you moving forward. It is meant to give you energy!
In a world that seems to be grinding our gears or keeping us stuck in muck, we need energy. To keep us moving forward, we need God’s “spiritual-kinetic-energy.” Closer to Him. PREACH! PREACH! PREACH AWAY! I need that energy! So do you. For 2024, INCREASE that energy. Share that loving-energy with as many people as you can! That loving-energy will be returned to you like a hug. A hug is one of those rare times that you give and receive at the exact same time.
